Kyiv Medical University is the best private institution of higher education (Rating-2019), about 3500 people study at the university, including 700 interns. About 35% of the contingent are foreign students from 62 countries.
Kyiv Medical University was founded by Valeriy Volodymyrovych Pokanevych (1950-2012) - Honored Doctor of Ukraine, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, General Director of the Ukrainian Association of Traditional Medicine, Chief Freelance Specialist of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in Folk and Alternative Medicine.
VV Pokanevych was at the origins of building a system of human resources in the field of folk and alternative medicine of Ukraine. At his initiative and participation in 1998, the medical specialty "Doctor of Folk and Alternative Medicine" was launched, which was included in the list of medical positions in health care facilities.
In 1992, Pokanevych VV created Kyiv Medical University, whose work was based on the need to introduce the most effective, scientifically sound methods and tools of folk and alternative medicine to the complex therapy of diseases in the system of medical institutions of Ukraine. The implementation of this concept is reflected in the functioning and development of a new type of higher education, the education of whose students today is a combination of the principles of classical and folk and alternative medicine, which VV dreamed of. The university trains specialists in the field of training 22 "Health" at the faculties: medical specialty "Medicine" (222), term of study - 6 years, form of study - full-time, dental faculty, specialty "Dentistry" (221), term of study - 5 years, form of study - full-time, “Pharmacy. Industrial Pharmacy ”(226), forms of study - full-time and part-time, terms of study 5 and 5.5 years, respectively.
About 500 faculty members work on the introduction of the latest educational technologies, improvement of clinical and educational bases, equipping of support departments, improvement of the material and technical base of the University and comfort of students, not counting the administration. The number of graduates today is about 4,000 people. At the University, one in five teachers is a doctor of science, and one in three is a candidate of science.
